It is legal in most places, though its dependent on which city you are in.

Contact your local police dept. and ask them about the ordinances in your area.

Do you live in a deed restricted area? If so what are the rules for that area. They are all different. What type of safety features do you have in case an arrow gets away. Better idea….call code enforcement, they’ll have the answer.

Yes it is. Just be responsible and use a proper backstop behind your target and don’t zing one into the neighbors yard.

Ask your LOCAL City hall. They should know the answer — and if not, then go to the COUNTY government.

If you ask the cops, they are more likely to say “No, you can’t do it”, just because they don’t generally like for people to do certain things….. I heard about one person who put in all sorts of safety-related equipment in his back-yard (15-foot high ballistic netting along the back fence, mattresses & hay-bales along the fence, etc), just to be sure he was within Local Ordinance Codes for legal back-yard archery…and the cops *still* didn’t like it, but they had to allow it because it was legal.

Always check with the folks in charge of the needed information: Government, not the cops.
