What is the point at which the bowstring is pulled back fully?
What type of bow is commonly used for hunting?

The bow has to be at an arms length.pull the bow string all the way back untill your hand can reach your cheek.never realse the bowstring if you are not going to fire (it is very bad for the string ).Some people do use bows for hunting but a crossbows are more common. The beginners will usely get popped in the arm with the string it is very painful and you should probably get an arm guard for it.

The point is called the archer’s anchor. This varies depending on style. Kyudo, Japanese traditional archery will have you pull the arrow back behind your ear, Olympic style archery will have you pull the string to your chin and tuck your draw hand under the jaw, western traditional archery will use an anchor with your index finger to the corner of your mouth or to your cheek bone. Whichever style you choose, this point need to be consistent from shot to shot.
Commonly used for hunting would be a compound nowadays. Still plenty of people using recurves or longbows, but a greater number of people want it easy and go for the compound.
