Wonderful! My family got involved in archery this summer. We are having a wonderful time with it. You can buy bows almost anywhere. However, I do suggest that you go to a sporting goods store or an archery shop and let them fit you to a bow. There are many factors that play in picking the right one. You can still stay in a lower price range, but the string (draw length) needs to be correct for you. Also, the amount of pounds you will be pulling back needs to be comfortable for you. I know it probably sounds confusing, but once you get in front of someone and they are showing you these things, it will all come together.

If you do pursue archery, and would like to get more involved, check to see if there is a club in your area. We live in Alabama and are members of BHA (Bowhunters of Alabama) We participate in 3D tournaments almost every weekend. It is really alot of fun and you meet lots of people with the same interests. Again, archery fun, not huntng. (A local bow shop should also be able to tell you if there is a club in your area.)

Good Luck to you and I hope you enjoy archery as well as me and my family have!

I suggest you check out the USA Archery JOAD (Junior Olympic Development Program) at or the NFAA (National Field Archery Association) After School Archery Program (ASAP) at . Both programs offer lessons including equipment all over the US at very reasonable rates. Some JOAD groups are for adults also so even if you are not under 18 either organization should be able to help find you an instructor. One of these programs should operate near to you, if not, and if you attend a school willing to support your interest, contact the National Archery in the Schools Program at .
