What is the verb form of the word “archery”?

archery
gburgmommy asked:

Is it “arching,” “archering,” or something succinct like that? Or is it just, “shooting some bows and arrows”? It seems so clumsy, somehow, to say that mouthful every time!
By “archery” I mean the sport of shooting with bows and arrows at a target.

I don’t think there is a verb. An arch is a curved structure - hence the bow.

The nock (noun form) is the little slit at the rear of the arrow that slips over the bowstring. Nocking (verb form) refers to fitting the arrow to the bowstring.

I don’t belive there is such a thing. If you were to use it in a sentance it would be said:
    She practiced her archery skills
    Or something like that.
