Start out by shooting as many bows (compound, long and recurve) as possible. Technology has greatly improved the compound bow thru the years. If your interested in a lighter fast bow, check out the sidewinder by High Country Archery 3.1 lbs
Parker also makes a light bow called Ultra lite 31, a little to much vibration for me. Learn the bows before you decide. Longer brace height and riser will give you a smoother quieter shot.
Keep paralle limbs in mind also.
If your young, Mathews has a bow called the Geniss which grows with the hunter. Good all around bow which adjust easly.
I shoot a Mathews Outback (LOVE IT) with Cobra sights, peep, kisser button, Limb leaches, Truabll release and Easton Axis Carbon arrows. The BEST thing on the market today is the wisket buisket arrow rest. This rest will slow the arrow down by 5 fps but with todays bows shooting at 250+fps the benifit outways the drawback. Seriously look into that is you choose compound. Best of Luck!!!
