There is no age restriction for bows. I’ve had 12 year olds buy bows online. And not some kiddy toy, these were Martin X-200s.
You can buy bows at some sporting good stores, this is true, however I do suggest finding a range first and find out what it is that you really want. Ranges are usually filled with rather knowledgeable people with no sales agenda.

There is no age requirement in Illinois. Not to mention that you can purchase them online.
You need to know what type of bow you want.
You need to know your draw length.
You need to know what poundage you will use (some states require 40lbs for deer hunting).
Go to a sporting goods store and they can measure for you.
