    Yeah, more info please.

I know someone who dry fired his bow accidentally when his release popped, but nothing broke. The bow works fine still, but if your limbs broke in some cases you can buy new ones.

It depends on the bow, the damage, and various other factors.

What kind of bow is it — longbow, recurve, modern laminated, horn/wood composite, fiberglass, etc, etc… Who made it — is it a custom-made bow, or is it an “off the rack” bow from a “major manufacturer” bought at “Archery World”… What kind of damage — Are the limbs trashed, or is there just a little crack in one of them, or is there no visible damage at all…

You really need to provide more information.

It depends on the amount of damage done. Some bows are not damaged at all by dry-firing, and some suffer a lot of damage- go to an archery shop and let them advise you, and tell you what needs to be done to correct any problems you may have. Good luck!

You’ll have to take it in to the bow shop. They’ll need to put that thing in a bow press and take the tension off the string. Pop the string back into the wheels and check for limb delaminations or cracks. Also check the riser for small fractures. Dry fires causes tremendous amounts of energy to go into the bow and not the arrow. The cost varies by shop, some shops will charge you up to $100 just to fix that, others will do that for free.
